On Tuesday, Kate paid a visit to Brookhill Children’s Center in Woolwich to learn more about Home-Start and its support for children and families.
The charity was founded in 1973, and works with about 1,000 families from the immediate area, of which 80 per cent of the families have children aged under five. The Center is one of four run by Home-Start on behalf of The Royal Borough of Greenwich.
The Duchess was greeted by the charity’s chief executive Rob Parkinson and the manager of the center, Dawn Brown. The pair briefed her about the work the charity does to improve confidence and build better lives for children.
Next, Kate attended a coffee morning where she met with families who have been supported by Home-Start and was able to hear firsthand about their experiences.
She then observed a volunteer training session, in which volunteers are taught how best to offer practical and emotional support in a family’s home to help children make the most of nursery or school.
Wrapping up her visit, the Duchess stopped off at the onsite Together for Twos’ crèche to meet families and staff.
Before she left, she was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a gift basket for Prince George containing a potty training for boys book, a manual on how to teach children to tie their shoelaces, a toy sorter and an Elmer the elephant book.
Kate wore a simple but chic spot print ‘wrap skater dress with 3/4 sleeve’ by online clothing retailer ASOS (£35). The frock is from the retailers Maternity Exclusive range sold out in a matter of minutes. ASOS have since confirmed the dress is being re-stocked and will be available again next week.
She added an extra layer with an elegant black, tailored coat that had been made by her private dressmaker. We spotted the coat back in 2012 when the Duchess was snapped attending a party at the exclusive Loulou’s in Mayfair, London.
As for her jewelry, Kate wore her Kiki Classic Morganite and Diamond Cushion Drop Earrings (£3,400 and currently sold out), paired with her Kiki Classic 18ct White Gold and Diamond Hoops, ‘Fortune Drop Necklace’ by Mappin & Webb in white gold and diamonds and her Ballon Bleu de Cartier wrist watch.
