Kate mixed up black and navy, wearing a Hobbs Invitation Emilia black top with a corset bodice, sheer polka dot underlay and sleeves. The top is a purse friendly £89 – but before you race off to your nearest Hobbs it has long since sold out.

The Duchess paired it with a midnight blue, knee-length silk skirt from designer Jenny Packham’s Autumn Winter 2013 collection.

Individually, the pieces are beautiful and items that I would wear, but paired together, they looked mismatched. The black, matt textured crepe of the blouse clashes with the sheen of the silk skirt.

Kate wore a blue tweed coat from M Missoni’s 2010 collection. The Duchess has worn it at least two other occasions. The first was at Fortnum and Mason when she wore it alongside with the Queen and Camilla in March 2012. She was then spotted in it again in June of that same year on a trip to Nottingham.

On a side note, one guest could not foresee that there could be a bit of a fashion clash when she ended up wearing the same coat as Kate. Regardless of the faux pas, both Kate and the woman looked glamorous.

Kate & William Cap Off Their Day with a Visit to the Imperial War Museum

For their second royal outing of the day, William and Kate made their grand arrival at a reception to launch the Imperial War Museum Foundation’s ‘First World War Galleries: Centenary Campaign.’

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were helping to launch a campaign to create new First World War galleries in time for the centenary of the conflict in 2014.

Kate wore an £450 Amanda Wakeley panelled charcoal grey dress with three-quarter length sleeves. This dress is the charcoal version of that oatmeal-toned frock she wore at the opening of the Oak Centre for Children & Young People.

She added a little pizazz with a striking Alexander McQueen gold and black chain belt (2,225) and black Jimmy Choo ‘Cosmic’ heels. She also carried a black Anya Hindmarch Maud clutch. Topping off her accessories, she wore her Temple of Heaven 9ct yellow gold Girandole earrings by Cassandra Goad (£1,220).

Kate pulled out the stops with her super sophisticated hairstyle. She decided on a half up-do, with some curls twirled into a loose bun, and the rest cascading down her shoulders.

Kate & Wills Attend the Pre-Wedding Party of Zara Phillips

Kate & Wills attended the pre-wedding party hosted by Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall  in Edinburgh, Scotland. Zara will marry England rugby player Mike Tindall at Cannongate Kirk tomorrow.

Following an afternoon of pre-wedding rehearsals, the party was held aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia.

Kate recycled her Emerald Green Silk Belted Diane Von Furstenberg ‘Maja’ dress ($538), her black Prada shoes and her black Anya Hindmarch ‘Maud’ Bespoke Clutch. Her trademark hair was styled in large loose curls.

The Duchess of Cambridge (aka Countess of Strathearn in Scotland) kept her jewelry simple and wore her ‘Temple of Heaven’ 9ct yellow gold girandole earrings by Cassandra Goad, her monogrammed gold charm bracelet with royal insignia engraved on the attached disk, and of course her gorgeous sapphire and diamond engagement ring.

We saw her in this dress at the July 8th reception at the British Consulate-General’s home in Los Angeles.

As of this writing, the dress is available in sizes 8, 10, and 14 (US sizing) at www.boutique1.com

Just a few more pictures…

Brittania was The Queen‘s yacht and was decommissioned in 1997.

Of course we cannot end this post without a picture of the royal bride-to-be, Zara Phillips looking stunning in a blue and white tie-dye silk Alice and Olivia dress.
