It’s a Repeat for Kate in Christopher Kane at Order of the Garter

Yesterday, the ancient Garter Day ceremony took place at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle and was watched by a crowd of about 7,000 strong.

The Order of the Garter service is an important day in the royal calendar when Garter knights celebrate the ancient order. The Queen is its sovereign and a number of other British and foreign royals are additional knights of the order. It honors those who have held public office, contributed to national life or served the Sovereign personally.

New appointments are announced on St George’s Day but the chivalric and installation ceremonies take place on the Monday of Royal Ascot week, known as Garter Day.

Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, Princess Alexandra, the Duke of Kent, Prince William, and the Duke of Gloucester joined the Queen and Prince Philip in the procession of royal knights.

Two new members of the order – Mervyn King, the former governor of the Bank of England and now a Knight Companion, and Eliza Manningham-Buller, ex-head of MI5 and a Lady Companion – were formally invested with their honors by the Queen in the Castle’s Garter throne room.

Kate watched the proceedings wearing a bespoke, sky blue silk coat dress by Christopher Kane. The coat dress features a single-breasted design that is belted at the waist, flattering her svelte frame and slanted front pockets.

It’s the second time the Duchess has stepped out in the custom made coat dress from Brit designer Christopher Kane. She previously wore designer coat in July 2012 at Buckingham Place celebrating the London Olympic Opening.

The Duchess of Cambridge teamed her outfit with a matching woven straw, ‘Sweet Delight’ hat (£875) by Lock & Co, a new pair of ‘Gilbert’ leather, nude heels ($425) by Jimmy Choo, and her LK Bennett ‘Natalie’ straw Clutch.

Kate Wears Christopher Kane to Pre-Olympic Reception and Opening Ceremony

Hours before the official opening ceremony, the Queen hosted a champagne reception at Buckingham Palace.

About 190 guests were present – including 95 heads of state and government and their spouses.

After the reception the guests moved to the Olympic stadium to attend the opening ceremony.

Kate wore a bespoke ice blue silk coat dress by Scottish designer Christopher Kane. The single-breasted design features long-sleeves, pockets and a belted waist. It’s streamlined darts create a minimalist vibe.
