Yesterday, William and Kate started the day out by braving the elements to tour the Valero Pembroke Oil Refinery in Wales which celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The refinery was officially opened in 1964 by the late Queen Elizabeth and now contributes £1.5 million to the Welsh economy each week. It is built in a deep natural harbor at Rhoscrowther, and processes 270,000 barrels a day. The oil pipeline stretches as far as Manchester and supplies more than 10% of the UK’s fuel.
Hundreds of well-wishers, spent hours waiting in wind and rain. They cheered and waved Welsh flags to welcome the royal couple.
The Cambridge’s were ushered into a minibus to travel to the 1,270-acre site’s control room where they met with oil refinery workers and apprentices.
William and Kate sat in front of screens and pressed a button to create their own gasoline blend. Then, they attended a reception in the refinery’s Fire Hall and met members of community organizations supported by the refinery.
On a side note, the royal couple used to live in a secluded four-bedroom cottage in Anglesey on the north west coast of Wales.
Following their engagement in Pembroke, William and Kate travelled to Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium in Cardiff to watch a Rugby Union international match between Wales and Australia.
During half-time, couple met privately with injured servicemen and their families in the President’s Box.
The Duchess looked elegant in a baby blue Matthew Williamson wool-blend coat (£1,195) from the designers Fall ’14 runway collection. The crisply tailored, double-breasted coat features four pockets deliberately placed to flatter and emphasize the waist and front button fastenings. It is currently available from Net-A-Porter.

Completing her ensemble, the Duchess accessorized with her black, suede Rhumba boots by Aquatalia, her Stuart Weitzman ‘Muse’ clutch and her Green Amethyst and Diamond Cushion Drop Earrings by Kiki McDonough (£1,200).
In closing, we will take a quick look at Kate’s growing baby bump. There is just the very slightest hint of her bump seen through her coat.
